Nine photos and 3 line drawings of the leaves of hardwood trees are depicted on this sign.

The text on the sign reads:

"Much of Muskoka's woodlands are part of the Great Lakes St. Lawrence forest. This forest type is composed of sugar maple, red maple, beech, white ash, red oak, ironwood, white pine and hemlock. These species will regenerate under the shade of other trees. Once an area has been cleared of trees either through fire or harvesting, poplar and white birch colonize the area and create shady moist conditions suitable for the main species. These colonizing trees thrive in open conditions but are relatively short lived and disappear from the mature forest. They may, however be, found on the edges of mature forests."
