This bell is from locomotive CN9606. It was recovered after a disaster in which the train lost control of its airbrakes on a steep mountain side and derailed, killing the conductor and brakeman, and seriously injuring the engineer. The incident took place in June 2006, and the memorial was unveiled in July, 2009.
