The Pentland Hills are a range of hills to the south-west of Edinburgh, Scotland. The range is around 20 miles in length, and runs south west from Edinburgh towards Biggar and the upper Clydesdale.
The hills form part of the southern edge of the Pentlands, providing views south across Penicuik to the Lammermuir and Moorfoot Hills,
Turnhouse hill top is the first summit attained from Flotterstone at the start of the Pentland ridge and has outstanding views all round, particularly to the Firth of Forth. There is evidence of an Iron age fort close to the summit consisting of raised earthworks, and also evidence of 9 dwellings within the palisaded enclosure..
The Eastern slopes are also believed to be the site of the battle of Rullion Green in 1666
Altitude in Feet: 1660
