James Rustin built this brick schoolhouse in 1818.
His great grandson, Paul P. Harris, would attend school here, and would later express a conviction that it was during his boyhood in Wallingford that he learned the basic ideals which became the cornerstone of the service organization he founded: Rotary International.
The schoolhouse is now the Paul P. Harris Memorial Building in which the local Rotary holds its meetings.
