The local residents of the Decker Township built a township school in Decker, IN in 1912. All that remains of this original school are its cornerstone, its bell, and its large school nameplate that must have been over the main entrance to the school. The original school building no longer exists. These three relics of the Decker Township School are on display in a grassy area off W. Decker Chapel Road near its intersection with CR 1650 S in Decker, IN 47524. They are adjacent to the Decker Community Center and the Decker Chapel. The orphaned cornerstone is now displayed as a main feature in the brick and mortar base on which the school's bell is mounted. The cornerstone is facing toward W. Decker Chapel Road. The inscription on the cornerstone reads: "ERECTED 1912. Art Cain, Trustee Advisory Board Alex. Ravellette Wm. S. Decker Phillip S Hanebeil J. C. Flint, Contractor J. W. Gaddis, Architect". No history of the school is found at this location other than these relics. A Google web search revealed no substantive information either.
