The town of Patoka, IN is the oldest town in Gibson County, IN. The history of Patoka predates the formation of the formal Gibson County political boundaries. The Patoka Presbyterian Church Cemetery, also know in the past as Old Patoka Cemetery, is on the west side of and is now associated with the Patoka Presbyterian Church at 207 Graves Street, Patoka, IN 47666. This cemetery contains gravesites that indicate from the inscriptions on the grave markers that this is the oldest cemetery in Gibson County. There are stones engraved with birth dates going back to the 1750s-1800s. Many of the family names of those entombed here are of those pioneers who forged the history of this state of Indiana, this county of Gibson, and this town of Patoka. An estimated number of gravesites is probably about 300-400 graves. There are other waymarks nearby as well as several geocaches.
