This sculpture, Youth Taming the Wild is by artist Anna Hyatt Huntington. The sculpture depicts a young man standing beside and attempting to calm a bucking horse. The Smithsonian Inventory describes the young man as a "boy"..but, that doesn't seem accurate to the poster of this waymark.
Here is the Inventory's description (
visit link)
" A boy taming a wild mustang on a rocky dirt pile. The mustang is much larger than the boy. The boy leans up against the mustang's proper right side with the proper left thigh as he reaches for the bridle with his proper right hand. The boy's proper left leg is bent and his proper right leg is extended to support the force of the horse. A long cape is wrapped around the shoulders of the boy and blowing freely against the wind. The horse's nostrils are flaring and mane is flying in the wind. The proper left front leg of the horse is raised in an aggressive manner and the tail is perched in a curl."
