Washington Park is a 29 acre community park on Kenosha's near northside. I grew up near this park and during the summer lived there. It has a playground that is still there after 50 years of absence. Of course the playground equipment has changed. The park has A skate park, Sleeding hill,a swimming pool, 2 picnic areas with shelters, restrooms, basketball and tennis courts, and the VELODROME. A velodrome is an arena for track cycling. Modern velodromes feature steeply banked oval tracks, consisting of two 180-degree circular bends connected by two straights. The park was always referred to as Washington Bowl or just "THE BOWL". Tuesday evenings were the bike races at the bowl during my teenage years and that is where I was on Tuesday evenings during the summer.

Experience the thrill and excitement of bicycle racing at the Washington Park Velodrome. Nestled in a bowl-shaped natural terrain, the 333 meter asphalt track attracts cyclists from all over the midwest. Located at Washington Road and 22nd Avenue, Kenosha, Wisconsin is home to the oldest operating velodrome in the USA.
