580 KMJ is one of the oldest stations (1922) in Central California. It was founded by the McClatchy Newspaper Company and was known as BEE Radio. It was also the call letters of an early television Station that is now known as KSEE 24. The transmitter is 50K Watts and is located 27 miles southwest of the station. It has a newstalk format featuring Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and George Nouri's Coast to Coast. Local talent includes Weekday shows of Ray Appelton, Inga Barks, and Chris Daniel all with a conservative slant. Pastor Jim Franklin, a local minister has a weekend call in show. My favorite thing on the station is Mike Ratley's commercials for WEST SIDE Ford in Firebaugh (your little cheaper dealer). I also suggest the RadioTradio show on Saturdays 7-9AM which is a radio classified show.
The station is a CBS affiliate owned by Peak Broadcasting. There is also an FM KMJ 105.9 that is a newstalk format and is a Fox News Affilliate but it offers a different schedule of shows and plays music on weekends.
