This is one of many granite posts used to mark the "corner" points on the boundary lines between towns in Massachusetts, in this case, the City of Beverly and the Town of Manchester. It is a large stone boulder, about two feet high, and about four by six feet at the base. There is a drill hole on the top which has been filled with a solid material, perhaps lead.

The marker is located on the south side of Hale Street (Beverly)/Bridge Street (Manchester), Route 127, directly opposite an entrance to the Landmark School. The marker is on the north east bank of Chubb Creek, and about 100 feet east of the three concrete culverts where the creek exits from under the road.

Note that this is a Witness Monument (WM). The actual town line corner is at an unmarked point in the center of Chubb Creek, bearing 140° 16' true, 16 feet from the stone marker.

The next adjacent marker heading northwest is Beverly-Manchester 1A, 20 yards (almost directly across the street).
Heading south, the town line follows the center of Chubb Creek into Manchester Bay.
