Unquestionably one of the most scenic hiking trails in the country, perhaps in the world. Right along the Na Pali Coast of Kauai, with a sheer dropoff to the surf on one side and towering jungle mountains on the other.

This is an amazing hike for anyone who is fit enough. Kids will enjoy it too, as long as they are responsible: there are mudslides, tree roots, bugs, and dangerous cliffs to contend with. Keep them close to you! The entire hike is 11 miles each way, enough to keep all by the most experienced (and early-rising) from making it all in a day. You can hire a Zodiac boat to pick you up at the farthest point, if you wish. Or take your gear and camp overnight. Personally, I've never been past the waterfall (2 miles in, another 2 miles to the Hanakpiai Falls). Awe-inspiring Kauai at its best.
