The Alexander House was built in 1904 by John A. Walker and has changed hands 4 times since then. The house is now a bed and breakfast called The Inn on Main. The Inn on Main was the first bed and breakfast in the city of Spartanburg.

The reason this house is known as the Alexander House is because the 3rd owners were the most notable family to own this house. The Alexander family ran the Alexander Music Company and actually moved the company into the house in 1969 until it closed in 1994.
