On July 9th, 1994, a hiker that was hiking in the area of Huron Peak, experienced a broken ankle. While his condition was not critical, a helicopter was called in anyway. In the approach to landing, the blades of the helicopter touched the sloped terrain, and subsequently rolled and crashed along the slope some 1000 feet downward. Both the pilot and the flight nurse perished.
