Vicksburg was a mining town that owed its existence to silver mining in the late 1800s. The silver market crash of 1893 doomed the town, and miners abbandoned the town with its buildings soon then after.
Today two buildings remain, along with some metal mining instruments.
The area is curated by a local historical society, managed by volunteers in preserving its history. Nearby, a few yards to the north, are a row of modern cabins that are inhabited seasonally.
Reason for Abandonment: Economic
