This sign is on Route 6 heading out of Provincetown. It has a counterpart on the opposite side.

Provincetown borders the Cape Cod National Seashore. Sand dunes flow up to and sometimes over the roads. There are six species of non-marine turtles in the area: box, snapping, painted, spotted, musk and northern diamondback. See the National Parks Service's inventory at this site: (

It was not really safe get these photos. It is illegal to stop your car on the highway. There is no shoulder....just some very fine sand that a car could easily have difficulty getting out of.
The poster of this waymark didn't see any turtles crosing on the 2 or 3 times he crossed this way.
