Investigations are still on going, but preliminary details, and witness reports indicate that the Aero AT-4 stalled then clipped a grove of trees, and crashed in front of Jegs Automotive headquarters in Delaware, Ohio.
It appears that the plane would have been coming in for landing on runway 28 at the Delaware Municipal Airport around 1:30pm on 7/28/2010. Upon crashing less than a mile from the end of the runway, the plane caught fire. Employees at Jegs came out with fire extinguishers, and called emergency crews who arrived shortly after but they were unable to save the pilot, who was the only occupant of the plane.
Because the accident is relatively new, the details are still sketcky and various news sources are reporting different information. Looking up the tail number indicates the plane was a 2007 Aero AT-4, also known as Gobosh G700S.
The photos included show the area where the plane crashed. When we first drove by the plane was still in place, but we didn't have a camera. After going home to get it, we drove past the airport to get back to the scene. They were hauling the plane to the airport as we went by, presumably so the FAA can examine the wreckage.
