Barber Spring, named for Arlie Barber who had once owned the property, is one of about 17 springs which originally made the Center Point area habitable. Mr. Barber built a greenhouse on the property to produce seeds for his Barber Seed Co. business in Birmingham. He also hired someone to put the rock around the spring and had a top put on it. The spring's flow is approximately 50 gpm. At one time there was a sign identifying the spring but the sign disappeared during construction of Reed-Harvey Park and it has not been replaced.
