Balistreri Vineyards is in an industrial section of North Denver. While they do have a small section of vineyards, they buy a majority of their grapes from the Western Slope of Colorado and then create their wine. While I do not drink, my mother, who is a native of France, greatly enjoys their wine and I always buy a few bottles for my parents wedding anniversary. Since I am not a wine drinker, I am using my mother's comments regarding the wines. Mom likes a really dry, red wine - one that makes her tongue 'pop.' "Balistreri Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery dedicated to making fine-quality wine. John Balistreri’s wines are made completely natural, with a very approachable, easy-drinking style. He combines both traditional winemaking methods and modern technology to produce award winning wines- handcrafted, one barrel at a time, with grapes that are fermented on their own yeast, unaltered by sulfites, unfiltered, unfined, and aged in American oak. The winery and vineyard is located just 10 minutes from downtown Denver. When visiting you will be welcomed by one of the Balistreris: John Balistreri, his wife Birdie, or their daughter Julie. We offer a complimentary tasting of our award winning wines and a tour of our wine cellar and winemaking facilities. The tasting room also offers wine related gifts, antipasti items, and beautiful wine gift baskets. During the summer months (June 1st through September 30th) you can order antipasti from our patio menu during our normal business hours of 12:00pm-5:00pm. The winery is also available for private parties and events after hours, please call for details." (from ( visit link)
