Along a one way stretch of the Lincoln Highway is this marker, which is on a small brick wall which flanks the entrance to a small strip wall.

I would imagine only a waymarker would be able to spot this "what was here" sign on a small innocuous, decorative brick wall. This part of the Lincoln Highway is called Philadelphia Avenue. it is the beginning of where all the action is in downtown York and the historic district.
The sign of history reads:
On This Site Stood
The Original Children's Home of York
Opened 1867 - Closed 1972
Dedicated To
All the Children Who Called This Home
September 8, 1990
This agency still exists today. I found their website and here is what they have to say. As the oldest existing child and family centered social service agency in York County, Children's Home of York provides comprehensive, accredited, community-based services to stabilize and strengthen children and families in need.
