This is one of the many bridges that ensured the integrity of the north-south stretch of Michigan Northern Railroad tracks to the Reed City area until the early 1980's. Purchased by the White Pine Trails park system in 1994, this bridge now serves pedestrian, snowmobile, and bike traffic over the Hersey River. It also has a convenient intersection location for the Reed City park system which has resulted in it becoming a prominent symbol for the City of Reed City.
