Not all Lincoln Highway attractions are 100 years old! I exchanged some e-mails with the owner and shared a telephone conversation with him. I wanted to ask him about his place. I also let him know he was featured in the Zippy the Pinhead comic strip to which he has no idea what I was talking about. Soon he was impressed as I sent him the link. He told me he bought the business in 1998. I learned the metal pig out front was his first BBQ cooker. This cooker is what is featured in the comic and what travelers first see when driving by this BBQ landmark. They also have a killer website.
This local BBQ joint with all kind of interesting roadside "art" out front overlooking Old Lincoln Highway besides the pig cooker. This restaurant is a local favorite. Besides a roadside menu they also cater and will customize a menu for your event. The carry-out location is open seasonally (usually from Spring through December), though I think they cater year-round. The carry-out consists of simple, hearty, and delicious smoked meats and sandwiches. They have a few different choices each day (check out the calendar of options online), but everything is darn good. There are several picnic tables at the location (most of them are around the back), but no indoor seating. Strictly a carry-out business. The owner is always willing to have a chat.
