"Franz grew up in both rural New Hampshire and New York City, where he attended art school at the Art Students League. After many adventures, Franz settled in Chico for over 30 years. He worked downtown and was one of Chico's most memorable personalities and storytellers.

Every year during the annual Christmas preview, Franz became the real Santa to the children of Chico. Sitting in the window of Magna Carta, he used his beautiful calligraphy to record the names and desires of the children waiting to see him. Franz made an indelible impression on children and adults alike, as he shared his love and art with each of them."
Location: Second and Main
