Long Description:

The Kunming chinese garden opened in February 2005, and was a gift from the Mayor of Kunming to mark the Sister City relationship with New Plymouth.

The garden features a moongate entrance and pavilion connected by a meandering handcrafted path, a friendship rock and friendship tree. Chinese species were used to emphasise the landscape character.

A brass plaque written in both languages explains the sister city relationship between the two cities.
