This is a life-sized bronze of a World War II airman. He is holding his parachute and reading a letter from home. It is on display near the entrance of the Hill Aerospace Museum at the Hill Air Force Base near Ogden, Utah.

He sit today alone in thought
The letter held in tired hands.
Seated now in bronze forever
He fights for what his country stands.
The saving parachute held on his knee
Weariness etched deep upon his face.
Far from home the letter came
A line of love from a cherished place.
The man-child sites in frozen time
Back from war, yet one more day.
A statue portraying American men
Fighting, dying for freedom's way.
The tie from home, whatever held
Yet bound with stings like steel.
Emotions frozen like thousands were
