The house located in Georgetown used as the MacNeil residence for the 1973 movie "The Exorcist". The home of Chris MacNeil played by Ellen Burstyn and her daughter Regan played by Linda Blair.
A fake roof and side wing on the house were added for the film. I read on the site "The Exorcist Revisited" that it was to stay faithful to the novel. The wing also allowed for the house to be closer to the famous "Exorcist Stairs".
The fence along the front of the house were made up of brick columns and iron fence as seen in the movie have been replaced with a black wood privacy fence. I'm guessing for the privacy of the family living in the home since visitors still make their way to the Exorcist Stairs which are to the left of the home.
