This historical marker is about Herman Melville, best known for his novel Moby-Dick. He was born in New York City but lived some years in Albany near this site. You'll find the marker north-west of the junction of North Pearl Street and Orange Street in a small triangle shaped park. The marker stands one meter higher than the walkway behind a fence and some bushes.
