The small town of Owatonna, Minnesota is said to have been named after an Indian princess. The legend states that the daughter of a Sioux Indian Chief, Chief Wabena, was in poor health and frail. He brought her to what now stands as Mineral Springs Park to drink the waters, and she was healed.

The settlers took the name Owatonna, and the rest is history . . . or legend . . .
