The marker is attached to a stone holder in the center of a round island in the middle of the road. Center islands are above and behind it which also contain war memorials. The memorial reads:
In Memoriam

February 15, 1898
This tablet is cast from metal recovered from the U.S.S. Maine
The marker is in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, in York County. Marker is at the intersection of N. Fourth Street and Lincoln Highway (Pennsylvania Route 462), in the median on N. Fourth Street. I counted 9 other markers within walking distance to this one.
