The Morrison Milling Company began in 1886 as the Alliance Milling Company, a farmer's cooperative flour mill, formed by local farmers to mill their wheat into premium flour for North Texas bakers.
The cooperative was successful and became the backbone of the wheat industry around Denton, Texas, selling premium flour to retailers and bakers throughout North Texas. In the 1800's, transportation was a major problem for farmers so that flour milling and
distribution was a local business.
By the early 1900s, there were several hundred flour mills in Texas. However, as transportation improved,
competition increased in the flour
market.
In 1936, the Morrison family bought The Alliance Milling Company and renamed it The Morrison Milling Company. In 2006, C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. acquired Morrison Milling Company and added the Morrison products to the C.H. Guenther family of brands. We still mill local wheat and corn into flour and cornmeal, but, over the years, we have also developed a wide variety of flour and cornmeal based mix products.
Today, just like 100 years ago Morrison’s core business remains the milling of locally grown wheat and corn. Our principal wheat suppliers are still small North Texas farmers who grow the finest hard winter wheat in America . As millers, we select the grain ourselves and control the milling process from start to finish.
