This bell originally was used in the tall bell tower of St. Raphaels Church. A fire in 1970 destroyed the roof and the tower of the church. This bell was partially melted in the intense heat of the fire, and now rests just inside the front gates of this Canadian Historic Site.
It can be viewed year-round, but a curator and tours are availabe during the day in the summer months.
The original inscription on the bell indicates is was made in Troy, New York in 1859.
