On east side of Williams County Road 18 at Ohio-Michigan state line. Post is light gray granite 69 inches long 12 inches square with the top 18 inches dressed to 8 by 10 inches. Originally lettered on north side "MICHIGAN", on south side "OHIO", on east side "STATE LINE", and on west side "POST 16". Base of post embedded in concrete, top projects 18 inches above ground. To Post 17, true bearing is N 88 15'06' E, at a distance of 5208.0 feet.
Post now is highly chipped on all sides. It appears to have been moved, or broken and incorrectly reset, as it is not square to the four directions, as is every other post set in this survey.
Nearest active community is Pioneer, Ohio, in Williams County. To reach from the intersection of SR15 and US20 on the south side of Pioneer, proceed east on US20 approximately 4.0 mile. Turn north on County Road 18 and proceed approximately 2.65 miles to the state line and the mark on the right. Mark is 10 foot east of the road edge and is not witnessed.
