At 827 metres Mount Abrupt is the highest peak in the Serra Range.
Named by Major Thomas Mitchell, the first European to ascend the mountain.
On September 14th 1836, from this summit Mitchell surveyed the surrounding mountains to complete his survey of Western Victoria and find the lay of the land to the north and east to plan a route home from his Australia Felix Expedition.
Access is via a walking track starting from a carpark on Grampians Road.
There's an elevation change of about 457 metres between the carpark and summit.
