Mindport is really a difficult place to describe. Each exhibit is incredible simple yet beautifully designed and built. And all involve complete hands-on participation to explore different scientific principles.
From observing how rocks and logs affect a stream's flow to understand hydrography to learning how the mind processes writing upside down. Other exhibits examine sound being produced from tubes filled with balls. And another shows how tornadoes are created.
Preschoolers can come here and explore the physical phenomenon of our world without being daunted with unintelligible words and concepts. Meanwhile adults can discover aspects of the world and start to not only understand scientific principles better but play with them in a very fun environment.
It has been compared to the Exploratorium in San Francisco or OMSI in Portland but the people behind say that Mindport is something else; "exploration, observation, creativity, play, and, last, but not least, fun."
It is easy to argue that this is not a science museum, but it is about observing natural phenomenon and coming to understand it better. Which is really what science is all about. The exploration and observation of the world that surrounds us.
