This old footbridge in a state of disrepair was probably the only way for an early farm settler to access his farm in the remote King Country north of Taumarunui. It was possibly used for moving stock as well as pedestrian use, until another country road was built on the other side of the river.
The bridge has been here for as long as we can remember, just barely holding together by the suspension wires and the broken lichen-covered Totara wooden boards.
