Born in 1880 in Estonia, Alexander moved to Russia as a small boy where he would grow up. He would find his 2 wives there. The 1st, Leva died of Pneumonia in 1913. Alicia, his 2nd and 16 years his junior, would move to Canada in 1923.

By 1930, they had moved to Castlegar where Alexander became a teacher along with working at several different jobs including the nearby Brilliant Dam project as the carpentry shop superintendent. This island that he and Alicia are buried on was initially leased by Alexander for several years and eventually became the registered owner of the island on August 6th, 1951.

Alexander became a very active community member and recommended the formation of a Town Planning Commission. From is Bio on the CPR Museum's website:
Zuckerberg led in many public petitions. He encouraged people to petition for better water mains, improved road conditions, to oppose capital punishment, and to support other citizen’s rights. He was called upon at ratepayers meetings and PTA gatherings to give advice on many issues. His words were always careful, measured, and deserving of attention. The Bloomer Creek outfall and the question of water rights were constant causes for battle. He played an important role in settling the gas pipeline controversy.

Alicia passed away from a stroke on February 7th, 1960. Alexander had been battling a week heart in his later years and passed away peacefully on the 7th of January 1961..

His Bio on the CPR Museum's website is well worth a read. He sounded like an amazing man. Although their graves could be considered 'out of place', it is understandable why they are buried here.
