Long Description:
This Memorial and eternal flame is set aside in the eastern end of Springfield's Forest Park. The memorial is an eternal flame on a fairly tall spire surrounded by a circle of hedges and another semi-circle of taller hedges. At the entrance are two plaques- one indicating that this is a JFK Memorial and the other displaying JFK's famous quote: "ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTRY CAN DO FOR YOU; BUT WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR YOUR COUNTRY."
The day that the poster of this Waymark visited the site (6/26/10), the flame was not visible... but, one could hear the gas being fed to it.
No official website seems to exist for the site...but, one person has documented her visit during the 2009 commemoration at this site: (visit link)
