Long Description:
Morris lies in the middle of the Red River Valley which is part of the remnants of the prehistoric Lake Agassiz. The land is extremely flat here so spring flooding is always a concern. Repeated flooding in the past has left the area covered in rich river silt which has made the soil here some of the best producing agricultural soil in the world.
In 1966, a dyke was hastily constructed around the Town itself to protect against the rising Red River. That dyke held and since then a permanent dyke has been erected around the Town of Morris that protected them even during the "Flood of the Century" in 1997.

Morris is home to Manitoba's only Pro Rodeo, the Manitoba Stampede & Exhibition which is scheduled for July 21-24 in 2011.
