In Deerfield, in the village called South Deerfield, is a brick building that is a Mobil gas station that has a red metal pegasus mounted on the building.
The building is at 12 Sugarloaf Street, South Deerfield. It is a few feet from a major crossroads intersection with Main Street and Graves Street. The building is occupied by Fisher's Garage. The pumps are to the right when facing the front of the building.
Pegasus is the winged horse, which is featured in the story of Perseus and Andromeda (the story featured in the movie, "Clash of the Titans"). The name pegasus is also used to mean any winged horse. The pegasus has been associated with the Mobil Oil Company (now Exxon-Mobil) since the 1930s. You don't see it on gas stations much today, so finding one of these is pretty special.
