In Montague, down the street about a half mile on A Avenue from the City Hall and the Connecticut River, is a park on the north side of the road and between 6th and 7th Streets that is Peskeomskut Park. This park is similar to a town green found in New England towns, and includes a wooden band stand, posted signs, and a fountain with a stone marker. The fountain by the sidewalk on A Avenue, is built out of stone and mortar, and is cascading waterfall. To the right (from the road) is the stone marker with the following text:
"Peskeomskut Park
Pause for a moment
Let this quiet spot refresh you
On July 4th 1975
The People of Montague
Want you to remember
The United States of America
Entered its 200th Year
At peace with the world
And itself
Montague
American Bicentennial"
Not much could be found about the park. There are a few sites about the annual festival that takes place there to benefit the Shea Theatre in town.
