"St. Brigid Parish was founded in March 1940 by Msgr. J. A. C. Van Veggel. The first church was dedicated in July of that year. In December 1948, the present church, which incorporated St. Brigid Academy, was dedicated by Bishop Charles Buddy. The original church was then used as an auditorium and meeting hall. When a new church hall was built in 1980, the original church was torn down. The north parking lot now occupies the site.

In 1997, the church was retrofitted for earthquake safety. In the process, braces were added to the roof, a new roof was installed and a new tile floor was laid beneath the altar and up the center aisle of the church."
