James Martin and Mr. Gallihue first established the Edmond Mill and Elevator Co. at this location in 1893. In 1897, Isaac W. Rodkey and George Farrar purchased the mill.
In 1914, Rodkey bought out Farrar and was joined by his son, Earl. In the mid 1960's, the flour mill ownership transferred to Donald Rodkey. In addition to serving the southwest U.S., the company enjoyed a successful international business also. The mill was powered by either gas or electric, unknown at this time.
Later, the elevator was used by Dwain's Automotive for automobile storage and advertising, and their name still appears on the silo. The mill was condemned and torn down in 1972 when the City built the railroad underpass on 2nd Street. Only the grain elevator silo remains. The property is currently owned by Dwain's Automotive.
