Vining, a small town in Minnesota is the hometown of Karen Nyberg, NASA mission specialist and NASA mechanical engineer.
Karen Nybergs parents still live in Vining and her father, Ken Nyberg has created numerous metal sculptures, many of which are displayed in Nyberg Park in Vining. Several more of his art work is scattered throughout the City of Vining, with several more at Ken's workshop just out of town. They are fun, and a great place to stop and rest and to take photos.
This display of the astronaut and to Karen Nyberg is located in Nyberg Park in Vining.
Karen Nyberg was on the STS-124 Mission to the Space Station in May of 2008. She has logged over 13 days in space. Karen has also earned a patent in 1991 for Robot Friendly Probe and Socket Assembly.
This display are a unique and fun way to honor a local hometown woman.
