The village pump and housing were erected in 1894. The pump was donated by Abel Smith in memory of his son Lieutenant General P Smith of the Grenadier Guards.
The pump house is of timber construction with a shingled and leaded roof. The roof, of swept pagoda style design, is supported on four wooden columns stylised as ionic columns. Atop it all is a small turret with 2 round headed timber arches to each side and a ball finial.
The pump is atop a stone base and has a stone trough attached. The cast iron pump is richly decorated with acanthus leaves. The pump is in the form of a large bulbous vase.
