IN HONOR & MEMORY OF ALL MEN AND WOMEN OF THE PLANKINTON AND WHITE LAKE AREA WHO HAVE SERVED & WILL SERVE IN THE ARMED FORCES OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Date of dedication: November 11, 1982

Description of Memorial:
The memorial is located in front of the County Courthouse on North Main Street in Plankinton, South Dakota, the County Seat of Aurora County.
The memorial was completed in two phases. The first phase was dedicated to men and women who gave their lives in World War 1, World War 2, and the Viet Nam War.
The second phase consisted of a granite marker dedicated to all men and women who have served and will serve in the future.
On the new monument a short thank you is engraved. "DEAR VETERANS, THANK YOU HARDLY SEEMS LIKE ENOUGH BUT COMES FROM OUR HEARTS WE ARE GRATEFUL"
