This park is in a mixed dwelling and industrial quarter in the North-West of the city. The bigger part of the area is lawn, but there are some renatured areas for the local wild life and a ruin of a house that was turned into a playground.

This is the newest park in Basel. It was established in 1992. The area was the location of a slaughterhouse until the 1970ies. It was then when the first plans for a park were discussed. But before it was turned into the temporary head quarter of the municipal parks and gardens department. When they finally moved out the area was taken over by squatters and was used as a cultural center in the 2nd half of the 1980ies. In May 88 there was a municipal ballot when the people had to choose between a park and an independent cultural center, the park won with 56%. On June 21st 1988 the area was closed and evacuated by police forces, on the same day most buildings were teared down and the park construction started.
