One of the WWII's atrocities, the Bataan Death March is memorialized at this granite marker with bronze map. Located at the National Guard Armory in Brainerd, MN, the memorial is a solemn reminder of all that the men who suffered the Death March gave in the defense of our freedom.
There is a solemn flag marker and a bronze map of the area. In addition there is a plaque listing the men of the 194th Tank Battalion. The 194th Tank Batalion includes the former 34th Minnesota Battalion that was in the Bataan Death March. The 34th was federalized during the Korean War. The plaque lists the men of the 34th. Out of the 64 National Guard men from Brainerd, only 32 survived World War II to return to Brainerd.
