The hexagonal pump house was erected in 1897 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The pump within the pump house is believed to be a lot older, circa late 17th to early 18th Century.
The shingled roof of the gazebo is in two stages with an inscription between the stages. The inscription reads
SET UP BY
F J ROBINSON ESQRE
1897
TO COMMEMORATE
THE 60thYEAR OF THE
GLORIOUS REIGN OF
QUEEN/VICTORIA
The pump is a slender square pillar about one and a half metres high enclosing the pump barrel with part of crank mechanism remaining. There is a brass plaque on the pump marking the restoration of the pump by the Buntingford Civic Society.
