"ROAD SUBJECT TO FLOODING INDICATORS SHOW DEPTH" are common enough signs, but this one was for a causeway or floodway crossing of the Kangaroo River which has been replaced (possibly in the 1990's) by a high level concrete bridge. A yellow diamond "CAUSEWAY" sign is on a tree nearby, but the photo obtained on the day was of too poor a quality to include in the gallery.

Causeways are a low cost alternative to traditional bridges but have the penalty of no access during flood conditions. As time has passed, more people have needed all weather access and so the causeway is replaced.

The old road has been reclaimed by nature, but until a souvenir hunter spoils it, this sign is for a road no longer travelled...
