Located between Roan Mountain, TN and Bakersville, NC, Carvers Gap is a popular destination for the flowering Catawba rhododendron and flame azaleas. The Appalachian Trail, which crosses here, was rerouted in the 1950s to be in the Roan highlands.
TN143 comes from Roan Mountain, TN and NC261 comes from Bakersville, NC to meet at this gap.
Parking is available nearby with a pit toilet.
