A small town in Spink County, South Dakota, Brentford has a population of 56 as of the July 2008 census. This shows a 14% decrease from the 2000 census.

German, Norwegian, English, Dutch, and French peoples settled this town and the town was incorporated on October 6, 1906.

A group of townspeople saw the need for a local church and decided to build one that would serve many denominations so they built the Brentford Congregational United Church of Christ. The bell was dedicated on May 13, 1913.

When it was decided that the bell on top of the church no longer served its purpose the members decided to build a memorial with the bell as the central focus.

Today the church is still located on McCaughey Avenue and has a membership of about 75 people. Church is held at 11:15 and Sunday School begins at 10:00. The pastor is Jon Damaska.
